Amur Tiger Center takes part in first Russian Geographic Society festival

Today, on October 31, 2014 in the Central House of Artists in Moscow, the grand opening of the first Festival of the Russian Geographical Society is taking place. Such a large-scale event is held for the first time in almost 170 years of the Society's history. The Amur Tiger Center is participating in the Festival.

Established by the Russian Geographical Society in 2013, the Center carries out the task of state importance - the preservation of the largest representative of the cat family on the Earth, which can rightly be considered the national property of Russia. On the stands of the Center you can find information about the organization itself and about activities aimed at studying and preserving the population of the rare predator, as well as about the Amur tiger and its habitat. Also the new character of "Good night, kids!" (TV show) was presented at the Festival.

At the grand opening, guests received gifts from the Center - copies of the new illustrated children's book written by Sergei Georgiev "Amurchik, or the Adventures of a Tiger Cub", the main character of which is the Amur tiger. The Amur Tiger Center is planning to publish a continuation of the fascinating story about the tiger cub and his forest friends next year.

The festival will run from October 31 to November 6 in the Central House of Artists. The guests of the Festival will see the best photos of wildlife, the most interesting documentaries and unique exhibits. The Amur Tiger Center has also presented an exposition of colorful photographs that had been submitted to the All-Russian photo contest "Nature and Animals of Russia" this summer, including the best photos of the Amur tiger made in the wild.

Each day of the festival will be dedicated to different topics. The guests will get to talk with famous researchers, TV hosts, photographers, writers, take part in various contests, winners of which will receive prizes and souvenirs.
