The Amur tiger aged about 4 months entered the center of rehabilitation and reintroduction of tigers and other rare animals in the village of Alekseyevka, Primorsky Krai. It was discovered and seized after one of the residents of the Khasansky district came to the dwelling.
On the night of December 29, 2015, one of the residents of the village of Filippovka, Khasansky District, heard a loud barking of dogs on the territory of their own farmstead. When he left the house, he discovered that a dog that had broken loose from a chain was crushing a young Amur tiger. The man separated the animals and reported the incident to the Land of the Leopard National Park, after which the tiger cub was identified in a center for the rehabilitation and reintroduction of tigers and other rare animal species.
Experts have suggested that the tiger cub went out to people in search of food, because it is in an extreme degree of exhaustion. Now he is provided with the necessary assistance. Veterinarians will take the necessary tests. Depending on the established diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation will be prescribed.
The Amur Tiger Center will cover the cost of feeding and treating a tiger cub.
“Unfortunately, our forecasts began to come true. This year is really difficult for ungulates, including tigers, and here is the first "swallow" of this situation. Experts have yet to figure out what happened to the mother of this tiger cub, and whether it is one of the three tiger cubs that were previously found on the highway in the Khasansky district. Our primary task is to bring the beast to the physiological norm. And only then decide on his future fate. Our organization will make all possible efforts to save the tiger cub and its possible return to the wild,” commented Sergey Aramilev, director of the Primorsky branch of the Amur Tiger Center.
