The launch of the second national competition “Camera Trap - 2016” is devoted to 100th anniversary since the rise of conservation initiatives in Russia. The Amur Tiger Center is an official sponsor of the contest and the nomination in ‘Cats’ category.
The first season of the competition took place in 2015 with 150 participants from different parts of Russia (including 50 nature reserves and national parks) presenting 1446 works - 405 videos and 1041 photographs - shot on camera traps. Similar to the season one, in 2016 all winners will be selected based on results of online voting on the official website of the contest. The voting opens on the 1st September and closes on the 25th December. The award ceremony is planned for the festival ‘Primordial Russia’.
The new season of the contest includes 10 nomination categories for the protected areas of Russia and 10 nominations for hunting establishments and environmental protection organisations. The full list of nominations is available on website of the contest. This is the second year the Amur Tiger Center is acting as a partner of the competition, in particular ‘Cats’ nomination category. Reminding that last year the winners in this category among protected areas of Russia were: national park ‘The Land of Leopard’ and nature reserve ‘Bastak’.
