The New children’s book Award has established a special nomination

The New Children’s Book annual literary award starts to accept applications to the fifth season of the contest. And for the first time there will be a special nomination established with the support of the ANO «The Amur Tiger Centre» - Stories and Fairy Tales about Animals and Wildlife.

The New Children’s Book Award was established at the initiative of the Rosman publishing house in 2009. Applications for the 5th New Children’s Book Award will be accepted from November 27 to March 31, 2014.

There are five categories:

Children's Fairy Tales and Stories (fiction for children aged 3-6 );

Sentimental Education (fiction for readers aged 13 -17);

Non-Fiction (scientific and educational books for children aged 5 - 9);

Stories and Fairy Tales about Animals and Wildlife (fiction for children aged 5 - 10);

Magic Lantern (scripts and stories that can become the basis for the script of animated television series for children aged 3 - 9).

Participants of all the categories (except for the special Magic Lantern category) of the fifth season will qualify for the publication of their works by the Rosman publishing house. Second and third-place winners in the special Stories and Fairy Tales about Animals and Wildlife category will be awarded prizes from the Rosman publishing house and The ANO «The Amur Tiger Centre». The main purpose of this nomination is to encourage respect for nature and rare and endangered species in children.

Young readers can also vote for their favorite works in an open online voting. Representatives of Russian libraries will determine three winners of The Libraries’ Choice category.
