Hockey game in support of the rare cats was held at VDNKH

On November 17, a charity hockey match was held in support of the preservation and development of populations of the Far Eastern leopard and Amur tiger. The teams “Legends of hockey” and “Tigers and leopards” met on the ice of the ice hockey box at VDNH.

The event was attended by Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Far Eastern Leopards autonomous non-profit organization Sergey Ivanov and Head of the Presidential Control Department of the Russian Federation - Presidential Aide, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Amur Tiger Center Konstantin Chuichenko.

The head of the Presidential Administration recalled that tigers and leopards had already become symbols of various sports teams in Russia.

“We have the Khabarovsk Amur playing with the tiger, the Sochi club with a Persian leopard, and the Vladivostok Admiral has a sponsored leopard named Valera who lives about 30 km from Vladivostok.  So hockey players love cats,” said Sergey Ivanov.

Famous sportsmen, including Olympic and world champions: Alexander and Vladimir Golikovs, Ilya Byakin, Yury Lyapkin, Viktor Shalimov and others, performed for the Legends of Hockey team. The team “Tigers and Leopards” was presented by hockey players-amateurs - employees of the presidential administration, related to projects for the conservation of rare cats, and employees of “Gazprombank”.

With a score of 7: 4, the Hockey Legends team won the game.  The prize fund of the match will be transferred in favor of the projects of the Far Eastern Leopards autonomous non-profit organization and the Amur Tiger Center.
