World boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. took under his care the Amur tigress, daughter of the tigress Anna Savelyevna, who lives in the Sikhote-Alin reserve. The boxer received a certificate confirming custody from the hands of Ksenia Sukhinova during his visit to Moscow. Now Floyd will have to choose the name of the tigress.
The mother of the tigress, who received support from the eminent boxer, has been living in the Sikhote-Alin reserve for nine years already. During this time, she managed to give the reserve a few offspring, the most extreme of which happened in April-May 2014, when 3 tiger cubs were born at once! One of them will take care of Mayweather.
Despite such a long stay in the reserve, until recently, the mother tigress did not have her own name. Everything changed in the summer of 2014, when the participants of the student group “Tigr”, organized by the Amur Tiger Center together with the nature reserve, were given a chance to give the tigress a name. On July 29, the International Tiger Day, the predator was officially named Anna Savelyevna, in honor of Anna Savelyevna Aleksakhina - the woman who gave birth and raised 12 children (ten sons and two daughters) - the first woman in the USSR to be awarded the honorary title Mother Hero.
Becoming the guardian of Anna Savelyevna's daughter, Floyd will be able to follow the fate of the animal. Together with the certificate, he received personal access to a constantly updated database of photo and video materials obtained on the territory of the reserve. In addition, he will choose a tigress name.
The story of the tigress and her mother impressed the famous boxer. Receiving the certificate from the hands of Ksenia Sukhinova, he admitted that he loves animals very much and would like to take more active part in environmental initiatives, and in some perspective, perhaps even visit the Sikhote-Alin Nature Reserve - the habitat of his ward.
