The investigation of the murder of amur tigress is on control in office of public prosecutor

The acting prosecutor of the Lazovsky district of the Primorsky Krai recognized as legitimate and reasonable the initiation of a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 258.1 of the Criminal Code (illegal extraction of highly valuable wild animals belonging to species listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation).

Recall, on August 18, a local resident found a seriously wounded Amur tigress near the village of Chisinau, Lazovsky District.  She was unable to move and was in critical condition.  The animal was taken to a veterinary clinic in Vladivostok, where he underwent a complicated operation.  During the following days, the specialists fought for her life and did everything possible to save her, but the injuries were too heavy.  August 27, the tigress died.

In the course of the pre-investigation check carried out by the police together with the staff of the hunting supervision and the Amur Tiger Center, the picture of the incident was restored. On August 18, an unidentified person, being in a wooded area about 3 km from the Chisinau village of the Lazovsky district, fired a shot from a firearm at an Amur tiger.  At the scene of the incident were found hunting luggage, sleeve and traces of the tractor.  The owner of the vehicle, who left traces on the scene, was soon installed.  It turned out to be a resident of s.  Lazo, Lazovsky district, who confessed during interrogation.

To date, the criminal case is a preliminary investigation.  The center provides full support to the investigation and hopes that it will be completed as soon as possible, and the person guilty of the crime will receive a well-deserved punishment.

The course and results of the investigation were put under control at the Prosecutor’s Office of the Lazovsky District.
