Winners of the "Nature and animals of Russia" photo contest

The jury of the All-Russian photo contest "Nature and Animals of Russia" has chosen the winners, including the winner in the special nomination "Amur Tiger", which will receive 70 thousand rubles.

The All-Russian Photo Contest "Nature and Animals of Russia", organized by the Amur Tiger Center with the support of the Russian Geographical Society, was held this year for the first time.

The winners of the creative contest were determined in two stages: first 50 best photos were selected by the visitors of the website, and then winners in each of the categories were chosen by an authoritative jury.

The jury included: Sergei Dolya, a well-known Russian blogger and an expert in photography; Ilya Melnikov, a photographer, the photo editor of the Russian Geographical Society; Sergei Lobashkov, Director General of the Amur Tiger Center and Sergei Aramilev, director of the Primorsky branch of the Center.

In the opinion of the jury the most "strong" category was “Wild Animals". The participants sent the most unusual pictures for it: they managed to capture the exciting moments of the wild animals who live in the most remote corners of our country: from the east - Kamchatka and Primorsky Krai - to the Franz Josef Land, the Caucasus and the westernmost point of Russia.

The day of summing up the results was not chosen accidentally: Tiger Day is celebrated all over the world on July 29th. Not so many works have been submitted to the category dedicated to the Amur tiger, since it is almost impossible to photograph such a rare beast in the wild. But all the pictures are unique. Anna Sidorova who has submitted a photo of a young Red Book predator taken in Khabarovsk Krai, will receive a special prize of 70 thousand rubles,.

The authors of the best works in the category "Beauty of Russia" and "Wild Animals" will receive prizes of 40 thousand rubles. Photographers who took the 2nd and 3rd places will get 20 and 5 thousand rubles respectively.

The works of the contest participants will be exhibited this fall in Moscow at the Central House of Artist, within the framework of the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society.
