On December 1, the results of the All-Russian Research Paper Contest among students and graduates of Russian Law Schools were summed up. The research topic was "Peculiarities of the legal regulation of relations in the field of wildlife and habitat conservation".
About forty papers were submitted to the Contest, which had been announced in early September. The Contest was organized by the Amur Tiger Center in conjunction with Far Eastern Federal University, with the support of Lomonosov Moscow State University Law Faculty, Omsk Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Russian Law Academy of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Association of Legal Education. Students from all over Russia took part in the competition, and the shortlist included works by young specialists from Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk and Moscow.
The winners were determined in two stages: in the first stage the jury selected the top ten works, and in the second stage, the jury selected the winners. Prize-winners will receive cash bonuses in the amount of 50,000, 30,000 and 20,000 rubles for the first, second and third places, respectively.
The Contest was a logical continuation of the cooperation of the Amur Tiger Center and Far Eastern Federal University, In the framework of the cooperation a conference on legal protection of rare species of animals has been held recently in Vladivostok.
"While evaluating the papers, we were pleased to note how wide the geography of the contest was, despite a very narrow specificity. Undoubtedly, the competition is unique in its kind, and we were satisfied with its results. Let's hope that next year we will continue the tradition and hold a similar competition dedicated to legislative initiatives of students of Russian universities," commented Vladimir Kurylov, director of Far Eastern Federal University Law School.
