The joint issue of stamps, blocks, envelopes or other philatelic material by two or more countries on one common theme is a significant philatelic event. «The Tigris Forum» was able to combine the mail of 9 countries at once.
Russia was the initiator of the joint issue. The Russian Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and AO "Marka" took part in the preparation of the event.
On September 5, at the opening ceremony of the II International Forum on Tiger Conservation distinguished guests redeemed postage stamp and envelope issued in Russia. Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko, Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Khin Maung Yi and General Director of Russian Post Maxim Akimov attended the ceremony.
Stamps issued in other tiger range countries were demonstrated at the ceremony. In addition to Russia, stamps dedicated to the II International Tiger Conservation Forum were issued by: the Kingdom of Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of India.
"The joint issue of stamps by nine tiger range countries at once is symbolic and proves that the countries of the rare predator can successfully negotiate with each other for a common goal," says Sergey Aramilev, Director General of the Center "Amur Tiger". - This is exactly what was discussed a lot at the forum: to save the world tiger population, we need to cooperate and develop the mechanisms necessary for this".
As earlier reported, the II International Forum on Tiger Conservation took place in Vladivostok on September 5, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the results of the comprehensive census of the Amur tiger in his video address to the event participants. At present, there are at least 750 Amur tigers in Russia, including cubs. According to the results of the 2015 census, there were 523-540 tigers.
The Tiger Forum is organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation, the Center "Amur Tiger" and the Roscongress Foundation.
